Day 1 - Yep I'm a newbie!!!

Over lunch at work I came across a link to PE and my curiosity got the better of me. I soon found out that it wouldn't cost me anything so that was good enough for me. I downloaded the installer and set it downloading the rest of the game. It took most of the rest of the day as the connection here at work aint too good.

So after the kids we put to bed and the wife was watching Eastenders, out came the laptop. I registered for an account and got the game loading! As the game loaded I sat with baited breath for what I expected to be a short time online as I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself.

Initially I was impressed with the splash screen. For a freebie its pretty good. I've seen worse when I actually paid for a game.

The first thing I had to do was create my Avatar. A fairly quick process cos I didn't really care what he (not she cos the wife would be jealous) would look like. Then into the game.

Ok, what do I do now??? So I pressed a few buttons and gradually found out how to access most of the menus etc. I also found out how to walk(Yep I'm a genius!). This must have taken about 30 minutes or so before I became comfortable to start wandering. I walked up to a few grumpy little avatars and started using my new found skills.... ooohhh yehhhh Disco Dancing.... I couldn't get enough of that, well for about 10 minutes any way. I'm sure I p*ssed of a few people so sorry to who ever you were!!

Then it was into the world... Using my radar I found a few red blotches and made a bee line. Ok so this may have been a mistake because about 10 seconds after meeting a rather larger than expected "Red blob" I died. sob sob

Back to my starting point. This time I was prepared. I stuck close to some other players and followed them to see what they did. I soon found that they were sweat gathering. Now I had to laugh.... "Sweat gathering"??? Couldn't Mindark have come up with something a little less gross. but anyway. There I was watching these glowing figures doing something. I had to ask, so my first chat session with the other players began. It went something like...

ME: "What ya doing?"
SOMEONE: "Sweat gathering"
ME: "oh" <-- with a slight smile on my faceME: "Why"
SOMEONE: "To get sweat"
ME: "OH" <-- ask a stupid question..... get a Stupid answer!
ME: "How do I do it?"
SOMEONE: "Right click on the MOB, then Right click again"
ME: "OK, thanks"
ME: "Whats a MOB??"
SOMEONE: "the bad guys"
ME: "Of course.... MOB = BAD GUY I can see that"

At this point I was getting excited... I could gather sweat. Or so I thought. I spent another 30 minutes frantically right clicking on "MOBS" to no avail until I finally realised what I had to do. Get close... Right click so I glow a little... when finished glowing.... right click again and green stuff squirts out of my arms. The thing was, I was still not getting anything but I didn't no this at the time (I didn't notice the messages in the chat box saying so!!) Until.... Wham, up poped some box saying I had got a bottle of sweat with 4 units in it. "Yippee" I thought... So after this success I carrieed on for an hour or so and got up to 38 units of sweat.

Now it was time to go get a gun. I was bored of "sweating MOBS" I wanted to kill something (or even better someone!!!!)

So, off I trundled to what I now know is Port Atlantis or PA for us "experts" or at the time "the place I started from" to find a trader of some sorts.

Once there I bumped into an ever such a nice fella who basically informed me that the amount of sweat I had was practically worthless. Can you imagine my heartache at this???? I had been playing for over 2 hours and got nothing, zip, nada.

I was going to jack it all in but thought, "no, come on, you are better than this. Go get some more sweat and then buy a gun." How long could it take for heavens sake!2 further hours later and after various attempts I was up to 57 units of the stuff. Still no where near what I needed but It was midnight now, so I decided to jack it in for the night!!
